Art Competition

1. Art competition for all students in County Clare
• Theme: Together we can make a difference, celebrating art, inclusion and diversity.
• Explanation: Participants are encouraged to create artwork that reflects the values of community, togetherness, diversity, and inclusion. The artwork should represent how different individuals and groups can come together to form a strong, supportive, and inclusive community. The winning artwork will be printed in a calendar promoting the theme and the Clare Volunteer Centre.

2. Eligibility
• Participants: Open to all students schools in County Clare.
• Age Categories:
o Junior / Senior Infants
o 1st and 2nd Class
o 3rd and 4th Class
o 5th and 6th Class
o 12 – 15 years of age
o 16 – 19 years of age

• Art Forms:
o Drawing/Painting: Watercolors, oil, acrylic, crayons, etc.
o Digital Art: Any artwork created using digital tools.
o Mixed Media: A combination of different materials or mediums.
• Size Restrictions: A4 landscape format

Artwork can be mailed to our office or sent as an email attachment in JPEG, PNG or PDF format. If you email us your art design, be prepared to send in the original if you are selected as a winner. Application Forms can be found by clicking on this link.

4. Submission Guidelines
• Deadline: 25th October 2024 at 11.59pm (Late submissions will not be considered)
• Format:
o Physical Artwork: Submitted to a designated location in the school.
o Physical Artwork: Posted to Clare Volunteer Centre, Clare Education Centre, Kilrush Road, Ennis, Co. Clare V95 F782
o Digital Artwork: Submitted via email to sharon@volunteerclare.ie
• Labelling: Ensure all submissions are labelled with the participant’s name, name of school, age/class, and title of the artwork.
• Number of Entries: 1 entry per participant

5. Judging Criteria
• Creativity and Originality: How unique and original the artwork is.
• Relevance to Theme: How well the artwork reflects the theme of “Together we can make a difference, celebrating art, inclusion and diversity.”
• Technical Skill: The level of skill demonstrated in the use of materials and techniques.
• Presentation: The overall presentation and finish of the artwork.
• Suitability for Calendar: The ability of the artwork to be adapted for inclusion in a calendar.

6. Judging Process

• Judges will review all submissions and score them based on the criteria mentioned above. The top 12 entries will be selected for the calendar, with one for each month.
• Overall Winner: An overall winner will also be chosen with this artwork being presented on the front page of the calendar.
• Each entry will be marked with a number. There will be no identifying information on the entry, and each entry will be classified based on age category only.

7. Prizes and Recognition
• Awards: Each of the 12 winners will receive a €50 voucher. The 13th winner (overall winner) will receive an iPad. All winners will be invited to a recognition event on the 5th December 2024 in Ennis for presentation of prizes.
• Calendar Feature: The winning entries will be featured in the Clare Volunteer Centre calendar for the upcoming year. Each selected artwork will represent a specific month. The overall winner will be featured on the cover page.

8. Rules
• Original Work: All submissions must be original works created by the participants themselves.
• No Plagiarism: Copying or tracing from existing artworks is strictly prohibited.
• Respectful Content: Artwork must not contain any inappropriate or offensive content.
• Return of Artwork: The original artwork will be returned to the school in January 2025.

9. Registration
• Form: Participants must fill out a registration form, providing details such as their name, age, school name, class, and type of artwork they are submitting.

10. Timeline
• Announcement of Competition: Monday 23rd September 2024
• Submission Deadline: 25th October 2024
• Judging Period: 29th October to 1st November 2024
• Announcement of Winners: 4th November 2024
• Exhibition/Prize Distribution: 5th December 2024
• Calendar Release: 5th December 2024
