Darkness into Light
The Darkness Into Light committee are delighted to announce that the Darkness Into Light walk to support Pieta House is back in Ennis for 2022. The walk will take place on Saturday 7th May at 4.15am in Ennis town with the route to be advised.
All volunteers will have a team lead to report to and will be fully supported on the day. You will work with the team on directing the crowd and providing refreshments following the event. Archaeological Dig
Clare Museum is organising a small archaeological excavation on a famine period house in County Clare. They are looking for volunteers to be involved in this project on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th June 2022 near Ballinruan, Crusheen. This volunteer role would suit graduates or members of the public seeking experience on an archaeological excavation. Difficult terrain but full training and induction programme including health and safety will be given. This is a one off project taking place over 2 days. PALS Volunteer
Ennis General Hospital is looking to engage with volunteers to welcome patients and visitors to the hospital. Volunteers will assist with way-finding and help with any general queries. A PALS volunteer will be based in the main reception area of Ennis Hospital and will be between the Main Reception, Out-patients and the ward areas. The role shifts are 9.30am – 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4.30pm – Monday to Friday and volunteers are asked for a minimum commitment of 1 session a week for 3 month period.. Accounts Volunteer
The Clare Branch of St Vincent de Paul are looking for looking for support with their Accounts to ensure that the various local Conferences capture and record important financial data. This will improve their ability to assist people whilst also adhering to relevant legislation. Volunteers for this accounts role are asked to work remotely from 2 – 4 hours a week while attending Conference Meetings from time to time. English Tutors
Fáilte Isteach involves volunteers welcoming migrants to the community through conversational English classes. Fáilte Isteach offers bespoke training and provide resources and all material to include books. They have started back the classes on a face to face basis and are looking for volunteers in Ennis, Shannon, Kilkee and online. All volunteers must be over 18 years of age. You do not need a teaching background to assist in this role but must have good people skills and an ability to keep conversation flowing. Graphic Design / Social Media
The 12 O Clock Hills opened their looped walks facility in 2014 and is a not for profit community group. The hill walks are enjoyed by many individuals and groups. The committee are constantly developing and maintaining the walking trails and parking areas and are now looking for a volunteer to join their team to work with them on designing posters / leaflets in order to promote the trails and to advertise for events. The volunteer will also be asked to promote the events on social media. This is an ideal opportunity for someone to gain experience in working with an organisation focused on promoting our countryside which leads to positive well being. to find out more about the role click here. |

Clare Community Games
Aldi Community Games believes that every young person should have the opportunity to take part in sports and art in their local community. On Saturday 23rd July 2022 Ennis will host the Regional Athletics Finals at Lees Road in Ennis. They are looking for Gate Stewards as well as Car Parking Stewards. All volunteers will be fully briefed and attend an induction before the event. Retail Assistant
Liberty Recycling have opened a new charity shop in Ennis town. The funds generated from the charity shop go towards providing supports and training to people affected by drugs. They are looking for volunteers to work as retail assistants in the shop. There will be no sorting of donations as these are delivered on a weekly basis. Volunteers will work as part of a team to ensure that an excellent level of customer service is given. Volunteers will be supported by the manager and full training and refreshments are given. Youth Leader Assistant
The Clare Youth Service provides a wide range of services to young people aged between 12 – 25 years of age. They are currently looking for a volunteer to assist the Youth worker in facilitating a drop in space for young people between 13-18 years in the Junction youth & community building in Cloughleigh Ennis. The drop in takes place on a Saturday between 2pm-6pm. You will making a real difference to the lives of young people and this is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience in youth work. St Vincent de Paul Social Housing Team are looking for volunteers who have a specific skillset in the areas of Architecture, Engineering, Surveying, Social Work, Social Care and Health & Safety. The Housing team are tasked with many elements of ensuring that the housing that is provided fully complies with policy and procedures and is in line with national standards.
